[CW] Receiver RF Gain

I am curious about the meaning of "alligator station", maybe
Oz land slang. Does it mean something that will bite you? I also
would like titles.
Grounds are funny. KFBK, a 50KW broadcast station in
Sacramento runs a directional antenna with segmented half wave
balanced dipoles. No ground system because it isn't necessary.
This is for RF, I am sure they have lightening protection
grounds. Some modern antenna books describe this kind of antenna
which would appear to have advantages for HF as well as MF.
Antennas are fascinating and far from trivial to understand.
Anytime I think I am getting smart I look at an antenna theory
book, grounds me for sure.
