Ken,
I had the use of a McElroy Stream key for 30 years on a long-term loan from
a neighbor, K1MVO (SK), he was delighted that I returned it ten years
before his death, it was his beloved uncle's key.
I agree with you about the action of this key, it has a delightful action.
I happened to meet John McElroy, then owner of McElroy Electronics, Inc.
from Shirley, MA and he had never seen this Stream key, so I lent it to
him, why not, his father made them.
A few years later shortly after John gave me back the chromed McElroy
Stream key, he sent me a McElroy Professional Key which he (John) produced
in the 1970s. For someone who wasn't a Morse operator (at all) John
produced one of the finest American type keys I've ever used.
Here's a picture of the Professional McElroy key John produced at McElroy
Electronics.
A key given as a gift is treasured, but I am simply amazed at how well
this one works.
Ted's son got it right - it is even better than his father's straight keys
- or at least the one's I've tried.

Incidentally, John (Jack) McElroy, Ted's son, was in a V.A. Hospital in a
coma, for FIVE years. He came out one day and lived forty years afterwards
and was President of McElroy Electronics and ran the company for the rest
of his life.
