I do, however, own several Begali paddles:

The HST Mark II http://www.i2rtf.com/html/hst.html is a high quality single-lever paddle. A switch converts it to a cootie paddle, so that motion in either direction closes a single circuit. It's designed for very high-speed operation. Ordinary operators who send less than about 50 WPM would probably do better with a less specialized paddle.

The HST Single Lever key was inspired by a design that several of the top competitors at the High Speed Telegraphy Competition in Pordenone (HST 2008) were using.



The Leonessa http://www.i2rtf.com/html/leonessa.html is a smooth hybrid paddle which can work either in single-lever or dual-lever mode. The transition between the two modes takes about five minutes of adjustment. I currently use it as my main dual-lever paddle.

Begali has produced two portable paddles. I prefer the dual-lever Adventure http://www.i2rtf.com/html/adventure.html which is easier to adjust than the single-lever Adventure Mono http://www.i2rtf.com/html/adventure_mono.html.

I don't own the Stradivarius <http://www.i2rtf.com/html/stradivarius.html>, but with its torsion blade suspension, it is the smoothest paddle of any type that I've ever operated.

These paddles are all pretty pricey, but their quality warrants the money. These days products sold in euros are more economical in US dollars than they once were.


All of the Begali paddles in the Simplex family, including the Mono Basic have similar high quality, and don't cost an arm and a leg.


Begali represents the finest of North Italian craftsmanship. There are quality paddles made elsewhere in the world, but as a collection, none come close to the Begali products.
