My preferred way is to use a miniature DIP-package relay for the interface. I like the isolation provided by a relay - and polarity doesn't matter at all. A very simple approach to the problem, and once you add the tiny relay the keyer can handle most any rig you'd like to use.
They fit right into a normal DIP IC socket or you can solder to them. I use a dab of glue to hold them up under a chassis or against the rear panel of the keyer. They come in various voltage ranges and often include a reversed diode across the coil inside the DIP package. Unlike larger relays, you cannot hear any clicking unless you put your head close to the relay.
Here's a very inexpensive source:

And its datasheet:

Subject: [CW] CW Keyer Interface
Does anyone on here know of an available keyer interface (built or in
kit
form) to interface a modern ss keyer to a cathode keyed
transmitter?
Something good for 800 volts @ around 300 ma or more? I'd
also use it with a
semi-automatic bug to get the high voltage and
current off of the bug or
straight key.
I found one that would work nicely on "Ham Gadgets" home page,
but when
I went to order one, a flag popped up saying it was not in stock.
(UKA-3+)
All my modern keyers around here are OK with QRP rigs and the newer
transceivers, but they can't handle cathode keyed transmitters. Right
now
I'd like to use my Eldico TR-75 TV transmitter as I had one as a kid
back in
1953. I think I need an interface to use my keyer.
Anyone have any
suggestions.?
Lee,
w0vt
