On the last slide regarding the Costa Concordia mess...

 The captain’s inaction leads one maritime safety expert to call for mandatory passenger distress signal systems, which would allow ship passengers to “alert outside rescue authorities if they feel their lives are in danger and are not sure proper distress messages were sent—for whatever reason—by ship’s personnel.

This is a bit scary...
