I have Phonak hearing aids from Switzerland, and part of the system is a
small bluetooth dongle called (of all things) an iCom. It talks via RF to
my aids (in stereo) and has a stereo 1/8” cord connection to my FTdx5000. I
get A receiver in left ear, and B receiver in right ear. It’s like having
your head inside the transceiver.
You can google Phonak iCom. Here’s a link to the user manual.

Thanks Joe, Paul, DX-Joe (V31JP) and others.
Can you give me the info on the blue tooth device - all the info I need to
get one that hooks into the radio and my (my dad's) ears?

Hi, DR.
Does your father wear hearing aids? I do, often, but not 100% of the time.
But when I am using the radio, I often have them in
and I acquired through VA the aids and I also got a Bluetooth devise from
them. I wear this little adapter on my neck and I have a cord
that goes from it to my radio earphone jack. The radio's audio then goes
directly into my hearing aids with the equalization that is
compensated for my hearing losses! Pretty darn neat and the VA paid for
them.
By the way, the VA has stepped up their program in the past 3 or 4 years to
deal with hearing loss with us veterans. Because I did not go
through to show my loss was service connected, I had to pay a small co-pay
for my visits, 3 each. I think it amounted to $45 or so,
but the aids were free and the Bluetooth adapter.
Good luck helping dad.

Hello Friends,
I know that others might know the answer to this question. I believe in
April, May or June "QST" had an article that mentioned hearing loss and they
mentioned a headset that was made by a company that furnishes professional
audiologists with headsets that can produce loud sounds and mentioned that
most headsets cannot produce loud sounds without distorting.
My 86 year old father, WA1DRR has some profound hearing loss in his "good"
ear :-) he was a gunnery officer in our Navy during World War II and that an
a swimming accident when he was young punctured his ear drum and he wants to
enjoy listing to SSB and CW on the air in his remaining years.
Does anyone remember the article or the company that makes these headsets?
I remember they were about $90.00 but when your father (or yourself) wants
to enjoy one of the things he enjoys most, it is cheap enough.
