CQ:  From a friend in upstate NY about 30 miles north of NYC who sent this:

Horribly scary now. Constant 60 with gusts to 80/90. No power since 2 pm.
Almost impassable as virtually every side street blocked by trees. Sounds
like a freight train with a weird underlying droan. Sky alit with like fire
streaks and blue flashes. Have never witnessed this before. Total
moratorium on local travel . Truly, frightening. Makes you feel utterly
helpless
