Hi Dennis --
I have reviewed a number of paddles for QST and CQ Amateur Radio. Frankly, trading a classic Vibroplex bug for a mass-produced Vibroplex Iambic is not wise. You can do much better than that.
Any paddle by Begali <http://www.i2rtf.com/> or I1QOD
<http://www.i1qod.it/prima.htm> or K8RA
<http://www.k8ra.com/> or Kent
<http://www.kentkeys.com/index.html> or G4ZPY <http://www.g4zpy.go-plus.net/g4zpy_index.htm> or N3ZN
<http://www.n3znkeys.com/> or Scheunemann
<http://www.scheunemann-morsetasten.de/> (available in the USA
from Morse Express <http://morsex.com/>) would be far better.
One
paddle that I can recommend highly for someone with a background with
bugs is the Begali Leonessa.
<http://www.i2rtf.com/html/leonessa.html> It's
excellent quality, but it's also a hybrid: you can use it either in
dual-lever mode or single-lever mode. I've converted to single-lever paddling, so I normally use the Leonessa in single-lever mode, but anybody visiting my shack can convert it to dual-lever operation with a simple fingerscrew adjustment. No, it's not available for trade!
If you want to get rid of your classic bug, just sell it (probably for a high collector price) and then buy a quality paddle.
