I'm no saint either, but I still want to get my solid gold Vibroplex.
No one told you yet, but the ONLY person in the world who had one was this
Egyptian operator who worked at Suez Radio - made his Vibro into a machine
gun. Deadly to your fingers if you ever said "QRQ" to him.
I always wondered why there weren't too many SU amateurs - they're great
operat ors. I guess there weren't too many Turks a while ago but now
they've returned.
I know what Hell is though, sitting on a receiving end of the circuit of a
passenger ship with QTC 300 and a Pakistani operator - they all sounded the
same - I don't know where they learned their code. I couldn't copy it.
Sometimes when I got a fellow I couldn't copy, I'd ask where he came from -
and most often it was from AP land. So I told him there was an ex- USN
operator who stood the watch at WSC with me "who loved to copy Pakistani CW
operators! I asked him if he could sit my 8 MHz position and I went for a
coffee.
