OFF TOPIC (OT) ALERT - NONE of this has to do with CW. But I think some
might want to read about it, it is shortwave database information and CHIRP
a open source program I use to load the memories in my YAESU FT-987D - much
easier than doing it with the radio.
OT ALERT ENDS.
A fabulous resource. Want to find out what station is on a particular
frequency in the shortwave bands?
http://www.shortwaveschedule.com/
Want a gold mine of information and links on short wave?
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/SWL_Broadcast
Want a database that you can upload to your new radio with hundreds of
memories?
http://www.hfskeds.com/skeds/
You can edit the above list with OpenOffice or Microsoft Office and then
upload them to your radio that supports uploading.
I personally use
CHIRP<http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Download>which is
open source memory management application. It is available for
Windows, Mac OS and Linux and source code.
The latest recommended downloads are the DEVELOPMENT downloads because the
CHIRP team is constantly improving this program. The STABLE version doesn't
support my Yaesu FT-987D but the DEVELOPMENT version does.
So scroll to the bottom and find the DEVELOPMENT release, and click on
the DAILY
BUILDS <http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/> link. You will then
have to find at the bottom the last day and go into that folder. You will
find the daily builds for Windows, Mac and a tar.gz file for Linux.
Ubuntu users can add a PPA repository as shown on the Downloads page, but
it is highly recommended to download the tar.gz file and read the README
file and INSTALL file to compile the code and install it.
