To enhance
my Elecraft KX3 fund, I've decided to sell my Begali HST Single Lever paddle http://www.i2rtf.com/html/hst.html,
serial number 135. Truly, this paddle is
not designed for slow- or medium-speed CW operators. It was inspired and improved for competition-grade
masters of speed.
The HST is also
not for backpacking. It's way too heavy. Including the patch cord with a gold-plated
mini-stereo plug, the HST weighs 4 pounds or 1.85 kilograms. This particular paddle could be used on a
bouncing boat or a moving vehicle because 3M Dual Lock™ has been installed on
its base without interfering with the standard feet, which still stick nicely
to a normal operating surface. Extra
Dual Lock™ is included to install on any flat surface, along with the standard
Begali cleaning cloth and a 0.03 mm metal feeler gauge for adjusting the
contact spacing. As shipped, the paddle
is configured for right thumb control of the tip, which is normally the dit
side. The polarity can be reversed by
switching the red and black wires on the channeled base. Because of wiring for the sideswiper/single
key switch, that operation requires a soldering iron.
Tension is
adjusted with a large single front thumbscrew.
Two similar thumbscrews are used to adjust the right and left contact
spacing.
This one
has N7RR embossed on the cover of one of the contact covers. If you want to substitute your own callsign,
you could order that part from Begali without replacing the whole paddle.
The HST
costs €198, or about US$255 directly from Begali. I'm selling mine for US$198 including
Priority Post shipping to any US address.
The paddle will be shipped with the contacts closed for stability in
transit. Please contact me off-line with
any questions.
