For about the last year, I've enjoyed dabbling in 'Summits
on the Air', and have worked a few stations on mountaintops in
the Rockies, Ozarks, Adirondaks, Laurentians, or Shenandoahs.
More information about 'Summits on the Air' is at
http://www.sota.org.uk/
Last year, I put Texas' sixth highest point, Hunter Peak,
(designated W5/GU-004 in the SoTA "catalog") on the air at
Memorial Day.
I'm hoping to "light up" Bush Mountain, W5/GU-002, this Sunday.
Bush Mountain is in the Guadalupe Mountains (near Carlsbad,
NM), and is Texas' second highest point.
It's 118' lower than Guadalupe Peak, Texas highest, which is
about 2-3 miles further southeast, along a ridge that also
includes Shumard Peak, W5/GU-003.
I hope to be on the air by about 1600Z (Feb 19).
Here's my frequency plan:
146.52-fm (hopefully to El Paso)
7.040-cw
10.116-cw
14.140-cw (top of the CW/Data segment to avoid ARRL DX/CW QRM)
21.065-cw (approximate freq - this one has an analog VFO)
Spots on sotawatch or qrpspots would be appreciated.
I don't know if I'll have cell coverage there, but I'll try to
take freq requests by SMS text messaging if so. 80m, anyone?.

If you are new to CW, I'd like to work you!
Just send at a speed you're comfortable with, and I'll try to
match your speed.
There's a small possibility I'll operate from Hunter Peak,
W5/GU-004, later in the day. If so, the frequencies would
be the the same as those on W5/GU-002, except no 2m (it's
on the wrong side of the range for El Paso).
Hope to hear you on Sunday!
