Hello friends,
I am nearly blind now and I want to give an aspiring licensed radio amateur
the "key" to future enjoyment. I am looking for a code practice oscillator
that has good sound and is in a box.
I see that Jackson Harbor Press used to sell these but they are out of
stock.
I could not put together the kit now because I cannot see to solder or
place parts.
I never was any good at metal work so a case was always out of the question
for me. :-(
The reviews on eHam say it didn't sound very good. I think that a good
sounding oscillator is a must.
Does anyone have a good sounding code oscillator or the plans to make one
and the ability to do so?
I would be greatly indebted for anyone's help and if this needs to be
built, I can pay a reasonable sum for it but contact me first.
I also think that if anyone has manufacturing facilities such a device
could be marketed. The addition of a few more parts and a small
telescoping whip could make it a RF detector / monitor / keying monitor.
I like my radio's side tone, but I used to switch on another receiver to
listen to the on the air keying or just to have two tones going in the
background.
Between my vision problems and the new fangled disease I've developed
(myasthenia gravis) which also affects my vision, breathing and strength,
I'm being challanged quite a bit.
My thanks to all,
73
