By the way I made my first QSO with my converted left handed 'Champion'.

I was at Andy's Airplane Pasture in MD and couldn't afford a Lafayette bug
for $12.95 myself and for the same reasons. 
My oldest daughter just turned 48 this week.  That makes me feel old.
