I am a member of a CW net called VTNH. This net meets daily at 7 PM Eastern
Time on 3539.
Although this net is primarily a National Traffic System net for Vermont and
New Hampshire it also offers a great place for CW ops to gather and keep in
touch.
We are "starving" for check ins and would sure appreciate anyone stopping by
to check in and help keep us alive ! All speeds welcome !!
Thanks,
Bert W1DFU
***********In connection with this it has been suggested that I add a brief
overview of CW NET procedure...so her it is***********
First let me say we are not sticklers concerning procedure as some nets are.
The net control station calls the net to order at the appointed time.
He/she will send the following VTNH VTNH VTNH is QND (meaning directed by
the net control station) please QNZ ( please zero beat net control ) and
then QNI ? meaning are there any checkins.
If you wish to check in send a letter (usually the last letter of your
call ) and wait for the NCS to respond with the letter you sent. That is
your invite to check in.
At this point you would check in using your call sign and QRU if you have
nothing to bring to the net or QTC if you have something for the net.
After all have checked in and any business is finished NCS will excuse each
station one by one. NCS will send your call and wait for you to respond with
something like hr meaning you are there and then he will excuse use by
sending QNX.
Some NCS's depending on how busy or not busy the net is will send hw meaning
how are you giving you an opportunity to have a comment or two if you wish.
Again let me emphasize we are not in any way shape or matter sticklers about
procedure. Obviously there has to be some sort of order, but we work with
what ever happens. We are supposed to be a training net and make every
effort to do that as well as make people feel as comfortable as possible.
