Craig signed up just prior to the post he made. I do not moderate new members posts although we've had problems with people joining the group just to sell something, make a post and scram.
I don't know how many email lists he used, but a few emails of a nature relating to money are not prohibited, but I do think that joining just to make money or in this case, beg money, is in poor taste mainly because there are other avenues of asking for this which isn't so much in your face especially when many find self-promotion in poor taste.
I would not have a problem with posting to the list a wish that we or perhaps a commercial radio manufacturer would sponser a child, or a disabled person as many times they CANNOT do for themselves.
I believe to ask for something that you can afford, or can earn is a character defect which is all to common and disgraces the asker.
Most people in my generation would be so embarrased to ask something like this that they are also embarassed to ask for what they truly need when they cannot do it even from family and friends.
One time I gave in charity to some amateur radio operator money that I saved by doing without, only to find that he had a beautiful BMW automobile and the latest Kenwood radio and a large beam and amplifier.
I hurts when people if taken advantage of, so be careful out there.
Our local club takes equipment from silent keys - good working equipment - and they sell it for scholorships. In my view, the several new hams could have been a better choice of the use of the radio equipment.
I hope Craig will stay and contribute from this list rather than make a post and then leaving.

My posting produced 3 companies that were more than happy to sponsor me and the hell with honorable mention; it's just not good enough. Hope you can make the trip too.
