[CW] SK? Radio Shack

Sorry you feel that way, but it does indeed have to do with CW. It means
that no one has a convient local store where they can walk in and buy
keys/oscillators/books about Morse Code, unless they happen to live near one
of those Ham stores you mentioned. Kids, and or adults who have an urge to
learn something on their own, therefore are stymed right from the beginning
of their interest into ham radio, or just learning morse code. RS was
started by and for hams, and since they are away from that, they should
simply change their name, and quit promising service by continuing to use
the name.

My nearest ham store is AES in Woodbridge, Va. approximately 100 miles away,
40 of those down a local state road, and the rest up an interstate. That is
NOT local. Nor do I buy anything there anyway. I simply do not support
them, because they do not support any one of the "local" hamfests, anywhere
from 10 to 60 miles from their store. They havent attended, or put up a
sales table in a hamfest in about 10 years now. Yes, there are dozens of
kits, and pre-built units to buy on the internet. It a shame we have to
shop that way, and it doesnt help with last minute, needed purchases, nor do
I like buying things I cant lay my hands on and "play with" or at least
inspect, before shelling out money for something that may not be appropriate
to the use for which I will put it.

Oh - and by the way, I do NO teach ham radio classes, without the
introduction and teaching of Morse Code. If they want to just memorize
answers - go someplace else. My students are required to know and
understand the answers.

Danny, All this anti BS about RS has
nothing to do with CWops If your so
disgusted with then why go there? Support ham radio stores local
or on line. Bob.
