My kind of home brewing. Cheeep and quick. Its about what I have thought on for a while. I really dont need them myself, as have a Iambic paddle bought at Radio Shack years back, plus an ETM3 paddle/keyer I purchased in Hong Kong in 1973, plus an old Vibroplex swinger I used on the job for 29 years with Uncle. I am though, right now, working with the local Scout Troop, on the Signaling Merit Badge, and each boy has to build a key (straight type - but one of these would be useful for later on, and can be keyed like a straight key for manual keying.) The merit badge was cancelled for the past 20 plus years, but with this being the 100th birthday of the BSA, they have brought 4 old badges back, for just one year. Instead of the normal green thread around the outside of the badge, it is gold for this year, and we are trying to get the boys to all earn it. They must learn not only Morse, but Semaphore, and build a key to key both sound and light signals, and copy/send about 6 wpm.

  Hi Danny,

Here is something I through together a number
  of years ago.

And even though I have some nice paddles now,
I still use it now and then.

Went thru the "new" mag, and think Ill build one of those one lever paddles, being its cheap and easy. But, new? No way. Ive used a one paddle keykeyer since at least 1973 (ETM3 German built for maritime operations). You know, maybe there is something wrong with me, but I dont see all that much difference between it, and the dual lever paddle I use now. One way is dits, tother is dahs.

One thing I do NOT like with computer magazines. They try to emulate paper, but when you are reading along and get down to the bottom of a page, you have to run the page back up tot he top, to read the right hand column. Whats wrong with just printing completely across the page, and reading line to line, and not having to act like its a news paper)they are often even worse, because the second column is on another page toward the back of the paper. Otherwise, the ads are nicer, with very large pictures of rigs, amps and antennas I cannot even think to afford. HI
