It's for-real. MFJ sells at least one Morse reader; there are programs
to run under Windows (and possibly Unix/Linux) to read Morse. Back
when computers were enormous and filled rooms, there were commercial
rack-mount Morse readers using discrete transistor logic.

None of them does a great job if conditions are not pretty darned good.
