Why is it a "WASTE" for some guys to play radios on an island?  It's their
radios and their time spent.  I hope they have a lot of fun, work a lot of
QRP DX, and drink a lot of beer for a reward.

I should probably  have been more specific !!

IMHO SSB on an outing like that is a waste. Signals are likely to be weak
and the demand is high.
