Just a quick three links of pages with links of amateur radio programs
some X-Windows programs, but a surprisingly good amount of CLI
programs, some in the Debian distro, some not.

http://radio.linux.org.au/?sectpat=All&ordpat=section
And a list of what's in the Debian Lenny distro:
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/hamradio/
You probably want to install the extra menus for Debian:
# apt-get (or aptitude) hamradiomenus extra-xdg-menus.
I'm currently using Debian - it is the fastest I've found. I find
Ubuntu's use of pulse-audio isn't good for amateur radio or for text
to speech converters for the blind.
If you know of someone who needs visual help - I recommend Vinux 2.0 -
There is a img file for a USB stick that I made.
Here is the file: http://vinux.org.uk/downloads/Mirrors/coblitz.codeen.org
The direct link is:
http://coblitz.codeen.org/http://mikea.ath.cx/www.n1ea.coastalradio.org.uk/Vinux-2.0.iso
The file is being hosted by Mike, W5EGO - and a tap of the key and a
tip of the hat to him for his kindness.
You'll need to get a 4 GB USB stick for this - buy it on sale, Staples
had two 4 GB sticks for sale for $12.00 (they are two in a pack) and
currently has one for the same price and www.newegg.com has them
available for about $9.00 each.
One excellent program - it's a networked log / keyer / program is tlf
- short for The Left Foot - it is an excellent program.
I'm searching for console programs for the blind - it would be
wonderful to find a text browser that would do Internet Banking for
the blind.
Be well,
DR
