No, actually BC/W1AA by regulation would indicate a station portable in China.
/MM means it is in international waters.

This w1aa/bc spotting is running me crazy. It shoud not be used, by regulation, since BC indicates a station is portable operation in CHINA, and most all spotting programs are doing so. I know its a publicity thing, but since its usually a band/mode I dont have China for, it rings alarms all over the place here. Since its a ship, even in port, why not /MM ?

Subject: [CW] Jack Binns Recap W1AA/MKC & W1AA/BC
Here is an update from the W1AA/MKC and W1AA/BC activity.
To All .. Jack Binns 100th Anniversary of the First Wireless Rescue at Sea in 1909.
Recap from W1AA the Marconi Radio Club of Massachusetts USA .. We used two call signs ... W1AA/MKC for the SS Republic
and W1AA/BC for the SS Baltic .... Two stations were in operation from 0000Z to 0300z ... and 1200Z to 2000Z ...
The KW station with a beam at 70 feet was on 20 meter phone during the complete period... the 100 watt station with a 33 foot vertical wire antenna was on 30 meters on CW and 40 phone and CW ....This vertical truck antenna has been used
portable when operating at lighthouses in our area. The stations changed the call signs at the top of the hour so both calls signs would have the benefit of the KW station ....
Photo QSL cards of the ships were created for W1AA/MKC and W1AA/BC......
If stations contacted both W1AA/MKC and W1AA/BC they qualified to receive a Jack Binns certificate from
the Marconi Radio Club.
A local area cable TV station came by and took video of our Jack Binns operation for future viewing on cable TV.
Our 20 meter SSB station had contacts with GB2IWM, GB5CQD, GX0MWT, KM1CC
KW station QSOs 100 Watt Station QSOs
20 SSB 751 33 Countries 40 CW 130 10 countries
40 SSB 61
30 CW 76 3 countries
A TOTAL of 1018 QSOs were attained for the Jack Binns event.
Operators at W1AA/MKC and W1AA/BC were Pi K1RV, Henry K1WCC and Whitey K1VV
We wish thank our Operators K1RV and K1WCC ....those who battled the pile up to work us ....and everyone else
who worked so hard to make the celebration of this historic wireless milestone a success.
