Charlie,

I never gave the conspiracy theory a thought. Could be - never know what the guv is up to these days. 

CQ100 will never replace real radio - but it is nice for retirees that have no antennas and still want to stay in contact. And, for periods of lousy propagation. It is sure better than no radio.
