[CW] Using the 3600-3700 portion

I'd like to stir the pot on this issue.

I do use that portion for SSB contacts. It offers a place of refuge from the thundering crowds between 3850 and 4000.

So far as holding a scheduled CW contest in that portion of the band: Yes, CW is allowed any place on the ham bands (generally speaking). However, the feel and taste of such a contest is really a thinly veiled effort to interfere with ongoing SSB use of that portion of the band.

I think this is a step in the wrong direction. If the 3500 to 3600 was so filled with contacts that is was similar to the upper portion (SSB) of the band in the evenings, then perhaps - but, let's face it, the band is not crowded.

My feelings, probably not the same as others.
