Hello Vern: Just a couple of comments re the subject....

1. I agree mostly with what you said.

2. There are quite a few AM stations now faced with a similar problem. Some of
them operate on about 3825 so +/- of that QRG might be avoided if busy.

3. While this suggestion will not help 80 Meters, I like to use the WARC bands
during contests, especially 30 Meters. At least the QRM level is lower.
And with the coming static season, 30 works well there too.

4. Lastly, good sharp selectivity is still our best friend ??
