The KX1 is small enough to easily put into a waterproof container or dry
bag.
If you can find one, the ATS3B would be perfect. The problem is that they
are special run kits with surface mount parts and I don't think there is a
current run.
It costs less than $200 and it weighs about three or four ounces and it can
put out 5 watts on five bands I have one and my "Go" kit weighs one pound
complete with antenna, tuner, paddle, and batteries.

Those are just so expensive, if the canoe or kayak roll over, I would be
taking quiet a chance with a K1, I was thinking more in the
area of 200 dollar radio or something like that.
