[CW] Linux Programs for Radio, amateur and professional

I wish to start a project of making a Ham Radio and Radio Engineering
CD-ROM booting (or USB, etc.) distribution based on Puppy Linux -
either 3.01 or 4.01. 3.01 is Slackware compatable, 4.01 isn't.

I know about W1HKJ's excellent Digital Modes CD. If I go with 3.01 I
will go with this CD and modify it. If I go with 4.01, I will compile
the programs he included on his CD.

What I want to know - especially from Engineers out there, is what
programs are a "must have" on this CD.

If you need to edit photos, GIMP is needed. IF you need to make PDF
files, the best way to go is Open Office.

Here are some of the ideas that I figured that would be helpful.

Electric and Electronic formula, conversions, calculations programs.
Circuit diagram program for designing small printed circuit boards.
Smith Chart calculator, or if that isn't available, just a program to
print Smith Charts.

A sound recording program that will support Broadcast file standards -
I forget the specification - but it is a time base I believe that is
built in.

Other sound programs that might be used by an radio engineer who is
pressed into service by the production department to remove hiss, hum
distortion.

The same for the television industry. Perhaps a good but not too big
video editor.

Any programs that would graph sound, video, tower strength, antenna, and so on.

Since this list is kind of quiet, I don't think the owners would mind
a few nice suggestions being posted through the reflector.
