[CW] RE: HTML not permitted

Thanks VERY much Jan... those are exactly my feelings as well. Yes, we could
run this reflector as a strict, no-nonsense-what-so-ever reflector, and I'm
certain some would prefer it that way. That simply is not my style, nor is
it David's. Certainly that can lead to abuse, but that's what reflector
moderators are for: to define what they expect from the list members, and
try and reasonably-in a non-heavy-handed-manner-monitor that.

I believe we do ham radio for fun. I believe we read this reflector for fun.
Does that mean we cannot have serious discussions? No. Does that mean we
cannot have light-hearted discussions? No. A moderator’s job is to promote
the reflector by encouraging discourse that falls within a reasonable range
between those two (serious <> light-hearted) and to try and control comments
that exceed such parameters.

Mostly, I simply will not tolerate rudeness. After that, the only thing I
try and control is the continued beating of some verbal ‘dead-horse’ beyond
reasonableness. That’s obviously a judgment call, and becomes a matter of
simply making your policies clear, and doing the best you can.

Speaking of doing the best you can: one of the best moves I have made in
years was the appointment of David Ring as my co-moderator. His dedication
is evident to me-and hopefully to everyone-every day. I don’t mention it
often, but thanks David-I really appreciate all you do.

Hi,

I am a very passive contributor to this list, but I read it frequently,

most often each day.

It has given me much information, and encouraged me to continue with cw.

I am a member of several mailing lists, and from time to time it appears

that someone take offence of the content in a particular mail.

For my own sake, I think that a little "off topic" discussion can be

allowed, and it often give a little extra "spice" to the discussion. If

you don´t agree that´s why there is a delete key, as is often said.

I just want to ecourage you to keep up the great work, and thank you for

a good e-mail list.

Jan
