I find David's comments very interesting in comparing sideswipers. Here I
have a number of "swipers""

Llaves Telegraficas Artesans from EA6 land
"Jablonsky" from East Germany
Signal Electric "SEMATIC", combination bug/swiper
W8DNC homebrew "Special"
Bunnell Double Speed key

My best?

Actually my Bencher double lever paddle, one of the very early versions,
with very thin finger pieces that are spaced very closely together! No
contest - it is a dream to use over any of the others. With my Logikey K-1 keyer
I can toggle between paddle and "hand key", and the Bencher becomes a very
good sideswiper.

Of course, there are very few keys as pretty as a Bunnell Double Speed!
Likewise - the Signal Electric is great to look at, but I would have hated to
be a commercial operator using one of them!

I have the following cootie keys:

Vibroplex VibroKeyer (modified knob and dot/dash contacts shorted)
Kungsbacka Swedish sideswiper (above)
Manhattan Electric side swiper prototype
Bunnell Double Speed key

The best are at the top, the worst are at the bottom. None are
terrible, but the VibroKeyer is the best, the Kungsbacka is a close
second.

What makes the VibroKeyer best is that it doesn't chatter and that you
can adjust either side for tension. With saw blade type, you only
adjust both sides equally.
