[CW] ?"Morse Therapy"

If you are handling message traffic or working as a professional telegrapher
(how many of those are still employed to-day?), I can see the point of
perfect copy on paper, but nowadays most of us just use CW for ham radio
communication. When we work phone, we don't attempt to write down what the
other person says, or record every QSO verbatim. So for a normal ragchew
type of QSO why would we bother to write down every letter?

I normally operate CW just as I would operate phone, and copy in my head,
maybe taking notes of such things as name and QTH, and anything else I
wanted to remember or preserve. I can easily copy perfectly in my head at
speeds far beyond my writing ability. I don't participate in traffic nets.

I never could get the hang of "copying behind". To me, it's kind of like
trying to read and listen to the news at the same time, or patting yourself
on the head while you rub your tummy. It's the writing part that I find
distracting.
