[CW] Made in USA

I enjoy perceiving radio performances (design, operating, measured
specifications, costs, sales,
support, software, sound quality, endurability, appearance, and user
interfaces) as competitive
attributes. Where the winning HF designs are coming from today can be
identified by company (source)
and country (location). Those attributes aren't competitive to me in
and of themselves although the
manufacturers clearly know they compete with one another. But that the
current group of Top 3 all are
in the United States is quite surprising. 50 years ago, the top 10
were all from the USA. 25 years ago,
none of them were as Icom, Kenwood, and Yaseu dominated. And while the
total number of HF radio vendors
has dramatically shrunk - that the top HF rigs are coming from back
where "commerical" amateur HF radio
started is a thought provoking, apparently cyclical, surprise.
