Below are some comments from DWD's friends around the globe.

Hi all,
this is an email I received from the UK regarding the well-known
British key collector Wyn Davies.

Sad news. Wyn was a prince among collectors and all-around decent man
with a great sense of humor. He'll certainly be missed.

I agree. When I bought some keys from him some years ago, he wrote me
a letter (the old fashion way: hand written) in which he described an
event which happened 60 - 70 years ago: He was one of the first people
to fly with a hydroplane from Trieste to Venice and he flew over my
hometown, Izola. A year ago a historian from Izola, Srecko Gombac,
wrote a book about hydroplanes history in this part of the world (they
were quite popular here between WWI and WWII) Unfortunately, Wyn was
feeling too bad to give an interview about his flight, but I conserved
his letter.
So long dear friend! Rest in peace.

Herman,
Thank you for the sad news about Wyn. Indeed, he will be sorely missed.
Wyn had a great and unique outlook on life despite the trials and
tribulations. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Who amongst us can
forget that picture of him smiling, surrounded by nurses with his
swaddled male part in a little cage for radiation treatment. Wyn was a
fine key trading partner. I used to send bugs his way and he sent
early Euro brass and maritime keys to me. Some of my favorite keys
came from Wyn.
Wyn's humor could also be off color, which made him all the more fun
to be friends with.
I am sorry that he and I never got to sip mint julep on the porch of
the country home we talked about me building and him visiting. Wyn, if
you are paying attention, I will hoist the first glass to you when and
if that inaugural drink is drunk.
God speed,buddy!!

It is sad news - DWD was a prince, two of my favorite pounders came
from him. We used to pass Christmas cards, and recently I sent him a
CD full of vintage marine wireless telegraphy - and even the close
down of the Welsh station in the UK. He really enjoyed listening to
them.
How quickly things change - his last email was only weeks ago - and
now... ... ...
The knowledge of things changing quickly was something known by men
and women in dangerous occupations, especially mariners. A mariner
might be out to sea for years on a tramp freighter, or these days, a
half year.
73 OM BV you have passed the sandbar to the eternal realm of the
golden Vibroplex.

Yes, that was explained to me s the reason for the
"keeper" on the British bathtub key also...
It flipped over the knob disc and held it closed.
...and now his key is closed.
So long, OM.
