Hi David,
I had problems writing (PRINTING)  20 WPM but like you I noticed some pens 
seemed to roll on the paper much  easier.
That along with using short hand 30 WPM is no problem.
But now i'm  getting to the poing where I can do head copy and the smaller 
words just pop  out.
I use the KOCH trainer and I put in 6 different letters and copy them  for 1 
hour non stop.
My score is always above 90%
