Thanks to all who responded with tips and kind words of
encouragement!
First, let me apologize for not responding to each of
you nor responding in a quicker manner. I am the proud
new daddy of a bouncing baby girl (8lbs. 6 oz.) and my
time on the computer is seriously limited for obvious
reasons :)
Secondly, I am taking all of the advice to heart and
running with it. I've got a couple of cw tutors installed
and have been working with them during my down times between
feedings, etc. I do listen on a regular basis to cw traffic
on 40m and 80m on a nightly basis, and that has been helping.
As for the scheduling a qso with several of you.. I appreciate
the offers and will probably be taking you guys up on the offers
in a few weeks or so.
As for the key choice, I have a couple of straight keys. The one
I like the best is a A. W. Bowman spark gap key. It has a heavy
marble base and just feels right when I'm practicing with it.
Besides, I'm a glowbug nut, and working with a old key like that
just seems fitting to me some how.
With all of the advice, I'm hitting the ground running and working
towards my goal, but be warned, I'll be bugging you with more
questions as I go!
Best wishes,
Jeramy / W5XTL
