[CW] QSO of dubious significance

Just a point of dubious historical significance - two somewhat
historical (or perhaps more accurately described as hysterical)
amateurs, Tony, WA4JQS, and myself, N8UX, recently established a
qso on 28500 (we're 5 miles apart), each using our Vibroplex
J-36s. Tony's is a 1944, mine a 1939.
Every technique and flaw was exhibited on both ends of the
circuit, from banana boat roll and Lake Erie swing, to missing dots,
and scratchy contacts. We wondered out loud when the last non-Lionel
J-36 to J-36 qso was made. And what is it with a bug that gives the CW
note that distinctive tube "warmth"? And just how long DOES it take to get
good at it? Like the Tootsie pop owl used to say, "The world may never know".
After 25 years, I think I'm starting to get worse. But I enjoy it
more, so I guess it doesn't matter much.
So feel free to move this message into the history book, or the trash bin -
ur choice om -hi.
Hope to hear some of you thursday 0230 ut on 3570.
tu de Rich, N8UX.
