The cable made for stage microphones is perfect.
Thank you to all who replied.
I found 75 feet of Belden mic cable on eBay and bought it. Problem solved.
As to mice cable -- This is what I've been using since my first mouse broke.
Way better than the zip cord that I used to use, but still rather stiff. I
had been looking for something better for quite a while and it suddenly
occurred to me to ask on this list... Duhhhh!
Thanks again for the help! I've been inactive (except for contests) for
several years now and have been brushing up on my 1949 Vibroplex Original and
J-38 for a couple of weeks now before assailing y'all with my funky fist on the
air waves. I still turn an occasional V into a 4 (etc.) with the bug, but
getting there. The HQ-170A is aligned and Ranger II is about ready to go too...
I still need a change over mechanism, which is in the works.
I've enjoyed contesting, and may do more, but letting the computer send all
of my CW for several years has done more damage than I would have imagined....
Seemed like a good idea at the time. A fist is a terrible thing to waste
:-( Not that I was ever THAT good.
On a personal note: As I get older my fingers just don't do what I tell 'em
to do all of the time, making using a paddle a real hoot - So I just quit
sending by hand. I decided to try again a few weeks ago but without the keyer
and found that I can still use a Straight Key fairly well (still needs a bit of
work though) and - amazingly enough - Almost Actual Morse Code can still be
coaxed out of the bug. It took me YEARS to learn the code and probably
because of the struggle to *get it* it is my favorite mode of communication by far.
I hear a lot of really poor fists on the air and truly do not want to be one
of them, but then again at least those guys are trying. Another week or so
of additional practice and I'll be back - Probably not FAST, but at least
"fairly" competent.
CU on the low ends soon! I'm really looking forward to it.
73, Don - K4BEV
