[CW] Katrina emergency nets

I believe it is an over all attitude and advance in technology that is
pushing amateur radio to the background...
The ideal system for emergency comms is available via satellite systems, no
towers, no fixed station infrasture and less
skilled operators needed.
All that is needed is an RV type vehicle with a 2 way satellite dish such
as the Datastorm system, you can interface with the
internet and the mode would be e-mailing, this gives a hard copy at fast
speed and needs little training as most people nowadays
are familar with e-mailing..
The vehicle is self contained for food, cooking, power and sleeping area.
Power should be a small diesel generator as well as solar panels...
You could throw in an HF rig as well as 2 meters for occasional backup or
working portable handhelds...
Many rv ers are already set up this way..
Cw I cant imagine why it would be used but could if need be, people could
use it if they wanted to...
