I use my MixW program as a keyboard for sending CW. I use Comm port 2
through a home brew transistor switcher to key the rig. This has worked
great for me for a number of years using both a laptop and desktop computer.
I don't like using the sound board because of the tone offset and having to
put the rig in SSB mode. I prefer keying the CW jack of the rig.
I am planning on purchasing a new laptop which does not have a serial port.
It has two USB ports. I don't see any way to connect my transistor keying
network to the USB port. Has anyone worked around this problem so that I can
continue using the computer as a keyboard? After 64 years of CW hamming my
old arthritic fingers can't handle the paddles very well. It seems that very
few of the newer laptops have a serial port (DB-9).
Thanks for your help...
