Hello Scott,
Hey, It's always nice to meet someone who agrees with me! I know Jim was
just wondering if it wasn't my "education" that made my "QST" appear
easier - something a kin to looking at the first grade desks and wondering
"did I sit there - they're so small?" !!!
And to boot Scott is someone who wants Life Members to have the choice
between QEX and QST. I'd like that.
I'd vote for "QEX", as I read "QST" and usually get so angry I throw the
magazine in the trash.
I never did that with the old "QST" - those were keepers.

I think that it has changed. One thing that
irked me is that I became a Life Member in
about 1980. Then they created "QEX", and moved
alot of the good stuff (that I thought I had paid
for) to "QEX". I think they should let Life
members choose between receiving "QST" and
"QEX".
One thing I don't particularly enjoy in QST is the
"Lifestyle Pieces". You know, like the retired
Doctor who goes on boat trip with ham radio, etc.
These seem kind of like "Trailer Life" type
articles, and I don't recall that they had this
kind of content when I was first licensed back in
the mid-1970s.
Then one that took the cake was the two page
article on using the phonetic alphabet. You know,
like "A" is "ALPHA", "B" is "BRAVO", etc. I
couldn't believe that would warrant a two page
QST article! Yet there is was!
We need another Doug Demaw.

I did, too. When this was moved to the web, we
were promised that more Section content would be
made available than what had been in QST. In
practice, some Section Managers do a better job
of keeping this up to date than others. Without
a publishing deadline, I've seen some Section
managers let over 6 months elapse with no updates
to Section News.

This is still printed in QST; and I read it, too.
Also read the public service honor roll. See
several calls I recognize from Section Nets.
