Well, fellow dinos; it seems our walnut sized brains succumbed to the
mammals and those asteroids that had been predicted for so long. Let's not
pretend the end (of the hobby as we knew it) isn't near--it's been here for
quite a while now...
Wireless worldwide communications (and CW) among nongovernmentally-salaried
operators will now stay, at best, as a "romantic" pastime". Well, that may
well be enough and "cool" for me, as long as I'm not left behind as "el
ultimo romantico del mundo".. But I do tell you: those companies who
thought were advancing their interests by discouraging skills and proficieny
(with the ARRL's shameful endorsement) would have desisted from their
campaigns if they had known better. I, for one, do not plan to invest any
more money in rigs and aluminum that will surely be trashed sooner than
later...
