>Yes and I bashed my way to extra.
Actually, the Bash manuals looked to me pretty much like the old ARRL
"Licence Manuals". I never used one, since I got my Extra in 1963, but I
did use the ARRL's Licence Manual for Novice and General in 1959.
>From what I understand, the difference was that the Licence Manual had
questions similar to the test questions, but Bash tried to publish the
questions verbatum. He claimed that he was ex-military intelligence and
used standard military intelligence techniques to acquire the exact
questions and answers.
But, like the licence manual, he did print an explanation into some depth
WHY the answer to each question was correct. From reading over the Bash
books I got the impression that, if used as a study guide, they would help
one to actually learn the material just like the League publications. But I
did hear people claim that they were able to pass the test without really
knowing the material by using the Bash books.
Did I miss something, since I never actually USED a Bash book?
I think the FCC's claim that their exam system was compromised by Bash was a
bogus excuse to make the changes they wanted to make from the outset.
They want to have as little to do with amateur testing, rulemaking and
enforcement as possible. I believe they think we are just a nuisance, and
would be perfectly happy to see us go away completely.
