[CW] Novice Bands are still there

Well, I stayed a General Class licensee for 20 years, then went for
Advanced, got snookered into taking the 20 wpm CW exam by a VE -- and
passed (the multi choice test that time). Had I not passed, I would
have been back the next month or two anyway to do the Extra written & CW.

There was no way to "Dick Bash" your way through the CW exam!

Oh well. I imagine in the future we will need to make a special effort
to run code classes in our clubs. CW practice could be a good Elmering
opportunity for us CW guys.
But the business at hand for the next 60 to 90 days is to protest the
NPRM and suggest the error of their ways. I predict the next step will
be to dumb the exams further (as part of the ARRL's rejected petition
asked), which does NOT take a change in regulations, unless the exam
topic standards are reinserted into the regs.
