I wonder if it matters. I have not played with any kind of machine
copying device since about 1990. I only tried it then because I had a
PK-64 and a Comode Door 64 'puter. I wasn't really interested in using a
computer to copy CW. I bought the stuff to see if I would enjoy packet
and some of the other digital modes it was capable of operating. It
turned out that it did not turn me on, and as for the CW capability, I
just thought I'd see how well it worked. It didn't work very well. It
required 599+ signals and perfect spacing to produce readable text. I'm
still not the least bit interested in using a machine to copy CW, though
I am curious to know if advances in DSP technology and software and
higher processor speeds have been applied effectively to make machine
copying of CW any better than that? Even if there is perfect decoding of
CW, most people who would do that would understand little or none of
what CW OPS send anyway.
