I can't vouch for the truth behind the story, but I can verify that I've
heard it, too.
Of course, I don't personally have a problem with daylight savings time.
I have a problem with SWITCHING all the time.
If DST is supposed to give you more daylight in the EVENINGS (which it
does), then why go back to standard time IN THE WINTER, when it gets
dark before I get home from work!?!? Who cares if the sun doesn't come
up until 9am - I'M AT WORK, anyway.
And don't tell me "the kids" have to go to school in the dark. If you
live north of about the 35th parallel, the kids go to school in the dark
3 months a year anyway.
My 2¢

Hi Don es the gang,
Wayne K9DI es Leader Dog Patriot here.
The person you want to string up for coming up with
the idea of Daylight Savings is the one...the only...
Benjamin Franklin. He came up with the idea to help
owners of various types of manufactories. The main
idea was to allow these entrepenaurs (sp?) to get as
much use of free daylight without incurring the extra
expense of providing light by burning the expensive
light sources then available. i.e. candles and or
torches. As far as I know this is the "story" behind
Daylight savings time. I could be wrong.
