Gentlemen: Wayne, your story is incomplete. While it may have been Mr.
Benjamin Franklin who developed the idea in the 18th Century, 100+ years
before the invention of low cost efficient lighting, it was the U.S. Congress
that adopted daylight saving time nationwide about 35 years ago so as to
provide more daylight at the end of the working day during late spring,
summer and early fall. (It was Carl Marx who developed the idea of the income
tax as a way to distroy the middle class so as to develop a "workers
paradise" but it was Congress that enacted it to pay for World War I. The
income tax passed Congress with all kinds of lofty ideals and b.s.) I
remember when Congress passed daylight saving time and there was opposition
to it, mainly from rural people who did not want their children waiting for
the school bus in the early morning darkness. They were outvoted by the
idealistic "best interest of the people" crowd. But never fear, CONGRESS
always knows best! HI! - 73-k4own- Sherrill W.

Hi Don es the gang,
Wayne K9DI es Leader Dog Patriot here.
The person you want to string up for coming up with
the idea of Daylight Savings is the one...the only...
Benjamin Franklin. He came up with the idea to help
owners of various types of manufactories. The main
idea was to allow these entrepenaurs (sp?) to get as
much use of free daylight without incurring the extra
expense of providing light by burning the expensive
light sources then available. i.e. candles and or
torches. As far as I know this is the "story" behind
Daylight savings time. I could be wrong.
