These are SOME guys that are nominated but haven't gotten their
A1-Operator's Club certificate. This is rediculous:
http://www.arrl.org/awards/a1-op/a1-nominees.html
Some of these guys are national treasures:
This list of people are all ex commercial operators and everyone of them
numbers among the best operators I've ever contacted:
K3JA Flavius Z. Jankauskas (Flav works things I can't hear in Massachusetts
with his great bug.)
K3SXA James J. Friel (Worked at WSL, Radio Officer)
K5CN Aaron W. Edwards ("Bill" Edwards is now a silent key, he was the R/O's
R/O.)
NS1L James N. Pfister (Jim is former USCG RM, former manger of KFS, Radio
Officer)
W0RSW Fred L. Joy (Worked at KLC, WNU, Fred is back on the air at
age 86)
W1DV David A. Vittum (Dave is former Chief of NAVY MARS, former USN for
40 years)
W5EV Jan R. Edwards (Worked at WNU, Radio Officer)
W6BNB Robert L. Shrader ("Mr. Radio" - author, designer, cootie sender,
Radio Officer 1940s)
(Age original W6B call sign? - need I say more?)
K3WWP John H. Shannon (Need I say more?)
K4EJQ James G. Botts, III (Here is a moon bounce guy who can send great CW
on a bug)
K9PL Philip B. Lazar (Phil is a member of JA-A1, at least they know a good
opr.)
KW1C Martin Bernstein (Marty runs a 2 el beam on 40 big signal pounding out
50 wpm CW).
NG1V Dr. Bob Scott (Bob runs 40 wpm cw from his camper!)
W1OBJ James F. Aguiar Now AF1Q (Excellent CW operator - changed his call, I
thought he was SK).
There are others, but this was a quick look.
I have my A1-Op certificate - this was a typo!
But these guys haven't gotten their certificates. There are more, but these
guys just caught my eye.
