[CW] Boxcar Morse - Mode A Mode B

Dear MIKE !!!

"Whether Mode A or Mode B, I wouldn't give you a dollar for all the iambic
keyers you could load into a boxcar...."

I used to say the same thing.

If you've got broadband (or even if not) download this. W1YT recorded it
around 1985 while I was on 40 meters,, about 1980 I was on a ship and I had
my 1939 Mac Deluxe sitting on the radio room desk (at night) when the darned
ship started rolling violently. Before I could get from my rack (bed) to
the radio room, the Mac had hit the deck, and the pivot pin broke. Aw S#!T.

The other Radio Officer only had a B*NCH*R (the "B" word, similar to the
J-38 word) and an iambic keyer.

I was a SINGLE LEVER man born and bread, and I wasn't going to use "no
stinking dualie".

The stupid thing sent like it was possessed. Satan on Skates sending CW is
what I sounded like.

Well, I might as well learn it - so I drew out a "chart" to show myself the
proper sequencing of key presses to send the code with minimum lever
presses.

Well, listen to the audio - when I got the tape, I thought it was me on a
iambic. I am "spoon feeding" the W4 - sending with exagerated spacing so he
could copy. I was on my Vibroplex Original which thereafter I took to sea,
leaving the more precious and valuable McElroy at home.

Oh, here is the file: ftp://ftp.qsl.net/pub/n1ea/N1EA%20on%20Vibroplex.mp3

Whether Mode A or Mode B, I wouldn't give you a dollar for all the iambic
keyers you could load into a boxcar.

My mind / fingers never could adapt to it. With iambic keys, there are 4
contact states to keep track of. My mind quits working when numbers exceed
3.
