Have been reading all of this argument about code-less license, etc. Some of the best
operators I have encountered on the USAF MARS nets have been those with a Tech license.
If we are keep amateur radio alive over the next two decades we need numbers, not
classes. I feel that sub-bands for specific classes is OK but let us remember that
regardless of class, operators are as good as their teachers which are us, the extras
who want to keep ham radio alive and well. Quit conplaining and wanting out of
the ARRL just because they are trying to save the spectrum we have by opening up
the band to anyone interested in becoming a ham instead of just going to the internet
to communicate. Have been a ham since 1948 and proud of it. I work CW as well as phone
and QRP but only hope the bands will be here for years to come. Oh, by the waay, I am
a 20WPM Extra at age 73.*
