[CW] FCC degrades Radio Officers

Thanks Mark,

I am glad you found it interesting and informative - that was the purpose of
the post.
Encouragement is always good to get - I just found it very odd that he was
able to do this and I find no way he could have done it in accordance with
FCC rules and regulations.  It appears he was able to get a license issued
yet it seems he wasn't qualified for it.  I would hate to think that this is
what is going to happen to ham radio as well.

As one who sits by and watches...

I agree with you.  You guys...the operators that
really studied, both on your own and then under
others, worked the trade, and earned their place in
the maritime world deserve the license.
It looks like the FCC's latest addition to your ranks,
got there by hook or crook so to speak.
I made my 13wpm before it went by the wayside, way too
long after taking my Novice...and 20+ years after I
started in the hobby!  I wish I started sooner, cw is
fun, I don't care that if (when) I get Extra its not a
20wpm Extra, however none of that is the same as
someone entering into the ranks of SHIP RADIO
OPERATORS, by means other than the norm.

It's your life, and I understand the aggravation.  It
would be like some new kid steeling his way into my
world, not cool!

I sit back and watch, both here and on the radio,
(cause I'm still real slow at cw) I enjoy your posts,
and re4ally like the history that you share with us.
Please keep it up!

I dont want the reflector to loose its luster, but do
wish to support you.so I make this offer...
Write a petition, make it available to HAMS, and your
fellow Shipboard Ops, then send it to the FCC for a
complaint.

Thanks to you and those like you that lived it, for
sharing your experiences with us.
