RE: 12 Feb FCC announcement on BPL

It would be my speculation that the FCC is reminding all parties that extant
rules in Part 15 already allow for co-existence and requirements for
mitigation in the event of interference. The FCC also spells out specific methodologies
to mitigate this interference, and puts the onus squarely on the BPL
providers. Sounds very constructive IMO.

I am , frankly, both chagrined and embarrassed that the ARRL does not posit
this as a positive. It seems the only acceptable solution, based upon the
comments on the ARRL.org web page, calls for either a discontinuation of BPL or a
radical change in BPL. I understand, not at all, the comment about how BPL has
no viability as a rural provider of internet hookup. What's that got to do
with the issue of potential interference, other than trying to kill BPL based on
some snappy but dubious economics comment?

BPL is here to stay; it will coexist with other services, and the sooner we,
as hams, accept that, the sooner we can work along side the BPL providers to
fix the occassional interference problem.
